At least some UFOs are actual physical craft of advanced technology from some place that isn't here. This much we know.
Still, most of us want the acknowledgement of UFO/ET reality by someone in a position of public trust. That statement will prove to your friends and your family that you're not crazy. A little vindication would certainly make my own life easier, that's for sure.
But that's not the main reason we want Disclosure. We want it because we want all the facts on the table, not just the ones we're allowed to see outside the umbrella of national security. Such an act of coming clean will move the world out of the old denial phase and into the new acceptance phase, and transform everything. We realize that if the status quo is maintained, the way things are currently set up, many of us are apt to go to our graves knowing that this phenomenon is real but not knowing what UFOs truly represent and why they are actually here. The universe, apparently, holds many, many secrets and at least some of them are being kept from us, illegally and immorally.
While the source is debated, either astronomer Sir Arthur Eddington or biologist J.B.S. Haldane or theoretical physicist Werner Heisenberg said words to this effect: “Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.”
Given the difficulty in determining the exact source of a famous quotation, it is probably a fool’s errand to attempt to explain what is really going on with humanity in terms of our place in the universe and contact with non-human life -- particularly if what little is known is being withheld from you. Still, that's the situation we're in now. We're being forced to guess at the secrets of the universe. For many of us, this pursuit goes from being endlessly fascinating to simply frustrating over the course of years of interest.
We want to know what the people who are "in the know" actually know on this topic. At the very least, we want to know what we know and what we don't know so we can at least try to imagine how strange the universe is for ourselves. This knowledge of where we stand is a basic human right that we are being denied.
Back in the 1990s when Brent Friedman and I were creating the Dark Skies TV series we set out to bring what we called the "unified field theory" of UFOs to the screen. We managed to create a coherent story that, as best we could, made sense of a lot of UFO lore, much of it strange and often contradictory. Yet that experience hardly settled the issue for me; it raised more and more questions. The more I knew, the more I knew that I didn't know.
My involvement with that series and with the UFO topic in general has given me the wonderful opportunity to talk personally to many researchers and thinkers in this field. Of course I count my A.D. After Disclosure co-author Richard Dolan at the top of this list. But it also includes people like Steven Spielberg, Stanton Friedman, Whitley Strieber, Carl Sagan, Jacques Vallee, Steve Bassett, Bill Birnes, Art Bell, John Lear, George Knapp, Don Schmitt, Sam Maranto, Jesse Marcel Jr., Robert Salas, Frank Feschino, Peter Robbins, Charles Halt, Kathryn Marden, Travis Walton, Roger Leir, Butch Witkowski, and many others. And I've read the books of people like Jim Marrs, Timothy Good, Leslie Kean, Donald Keyhoe, Frank Edwards, John Fuller, John Mack, Erich von Däniken, John Keel, David Jacobs, Phillip Corso, Nick Pope, John Alexander, Howard Blum, Budd Hopkins and others. I've been approached by shadowy people who say they want to help me get the truth out, and I've heard numerous sensational and provocative stories from other people. So, like many of you, I've pondered how it all fits together.
It's like a giant jigsaw puzzle with pieces missing, or pieces that often look like they belong in an entirely different puzzle than the one I'm studying. I've stared at the ceiling, awake at night for hours, in the still quiet, and pondered how to solve an equation that seems to have too many unknowns in it.
Are these Others benevolent as so many believe? Then who's mutilating cattle? Or humans? If crop circles are a method of communication, what's the message, and why is it being delivered by the same intelligences that buzz and disarm nuclear missiles? Why are so many abductees being taken, including children? And do implants track us or change us? If this has been going on for thousands of years, what do The Others want that they haven't already gotten? Are there really abductions being managed by humans? The sheer number of different Others being reported boggles my mind -- why so many? What makes us so interesting? And the numbers of different craft make it seem like they are putting out new makes and models as fast as our own auto industry. Why? And why did the flying saucers of the 1950s look so different than many of the ones reported now? What about the Nazi connection, anything there? And how has the management of this secret siphoned the time, money and effort it appears to command without creating just one incontrovertible secret-destroying leak that cannot be denied? Is Majestic-12 real or is it just a fantastic fabrication and, even if it is, who's behind it and why? Extra-terrestrial, ultra-dimensional, time travelers, intelligent machines or all of the above? Why are some of these craft flying out of the ocean and others have the colored, rotating lights like Close Encounters did? Have we recovered bodies? Any live ones? What have they told us? Why have I heard stories about government officials being briefed at underground bases about things that they claim made them cry? About what?
How can all this be reconciled?
There are times I feel like a player in an MMORPG, a Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game, where somebody else makes the rules and they won't even tell me what I have to do to advance to the next level. Assuming there is a next level. This secrecy brought to us through the policy of denial and ridicule has created a vacuum that has been filled by numerous "theories," many of which sound fanciful, ill-conceived or just plain wrong. Imagine how different the world would be if we'd been told the truth. We might still be confused but we would finally be focused on moving forward into a new relationship with reality, whatever that is. And, just as importantly, we would all be in this thing together.
Instead, our list the things that need reconciling just keeps growing: Foo-Fighters, Area 51, ghost rockets, Roswell, Eisenhower Briefing Memo, Communion, walk-ins, the Singularity, crop circles that are based mostly in England, Nordics, Grays, Reptoids, black helicopters, astrology, ancient astronauts, Zeti-Reticuli, Pleiadians, Betty and Barney Hill's star chart, remote viewers, Skinwalker Ranch, MILABS, S4, the Twining Memo, the COMETA report, Grudge, Sign, Condon, Blue Book, etc. Then toss in every conspiracy from JFK's murder to NASA maybe hiding ET moon bases. It's all aggravated by disinformation agents, for sure, but also by pranksters and even by UFOlogists themselves. Our own investigation groups are riddled with in-fighting, the latest flare-up being over at MUFON. The head spins.
What does it all mean?
I will tell you this. I have asked that question personally to as many people as I can from the list above and from others,read dozens of those books, and heard a hundred hours of Coast-to-Coast, looking for the answer. The most credible people I know try to answer it and can't. The best answer I ever got was from Whitley Strieber who told me over a fascinating lunch, "I can't reconcile it." The only people I probably distrust, it turns out, are the ones who claim they do know the answer. Those people embrace one point-of-view and mostly ignore the rest of the pile.
I am left with a giant, mind-blowing, brain-numbing jumble of questions, contradictions, blind-alleys and wishful thinking. What I lack is a clear amount of simple, basic facts -- facts that I could consider and let them inform my theories. This bothers me greatly.
There are people out there who, like me, may not have all the answers but -- because they have been security cleared or born into this Breakaway Group that manages the secret -- they are certainly working from a better collection of basic facts. That just isn't right. If the truth is good, or bad, or unknowable, it still belongs in the hearts and minds of the nearly seven-billion human beings out there living on planet Earth, and not just inside the buffered surroundings that protect the wall of secrecy for the mere thousands of deep insiders that keep things to themselves.
There are nights, a lot of them actually, when I want to get up from my bed, throw open the window and shout out like Network's Howard Beale, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."
Maybe that's what we have to figure out how to do. We probably couldn't generate an Egypt style protest over this issue today, but we are moving in that direction.
All I know is I'm not prepared for this stalemate to continue indefinitely without progress. Not by a long shot.
